We all need the same thing.

Friday Apr 10, 2009
I just want to clarify a couple of points... If you think that most of my training advice is aimed at the gravity and freeride set then you've got it all wrong. If you think that an XC or trail rider needs some vastly different program than a 4X or DH rider then you've got it all wrong. If you think that the MTB Strength Training System isn't all about having more fun on your bike no matter what your riding style then you need to listen to this podcast.

Katrina Strand is a pro downhiller, event promoter, skills coach and she knows a few things about strength and conditioning for mountain bikers. While I knew who she was I recently came across an article of her's on www.pinkbike.com and was chocked to see someone else who shared my views on training for our unique sport. I knew that I needed to talk with her and it turns out she is as nice as she is talented. She agreed to do an interview for my podcast and we went over some great info.

I got a great question from a client of mine regarding the idea of lactate threshold training and if it is needed in a program. Listen in to hear why the whole concept of lactate threshold training is based on outdated ideas and why mountain bikers need to work on getting stronger with their anaerobic energy system, not training themselves to avoid it.

Monday Dec 29, 2008
Here is one of my favorite interviews I've done. Skills coach LeeMcCormack has a passion for mountain biking that is matched by few others and it is obvious from this interveiw. Here he explains what skills coaching is, how it can help any rider and what you can do the next time on the trail to improve your riding.
